South Branch Baptist Church – Petersburg, WV

First Get Acquainted Meeting

There were over fifty in attendance with ten first-time guests during the first Get Acquainted Meeting for South Branch Baptist Church in Petersburg, WV. Pastor Rick Perrine of Ripley Baptist Temple, the reproducing church, opened in prayer asking the Lord to bless the service. It is exciting for Pastor Perrine to see his son now starting a church and launching out by faith trusting the Lord to build His church. Pastor Corey Bane of Shenandoah Baptist Bible Church in Martinsburg, WV, brought a group to help with the service and did a wonderful job especially with the special music. All the visitors stayed after to fellowship with Pastor Matt Perrine and were interested in visiting again. It is obvious that the Lord is doing His work in Petersburg. Pray for His blessing upon the remaining four special nights.

Second Get Acquainted Meeting

Six preachers representing five churches attended the second service for South Branch Baptist Church and showed their support for the new work. Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church of Oakland, MD, and Lighthouse Baptist Church of Winchester, VA, brought people to help with the service. There were fifty-five in attendance with ten from the community including five first time guests. The response from the community has been encouraging and  is another indication of the need for a solid Bible-believing church to be established in this community. Pray for the remaining three nights and for the Lord to be glorified in every area.

Third Get Acquainted Meeting

The Lord blessed yet again during the third opening night for South Branch Baptist Church. There were over forty in attendance with two new guests and six returning guests. Pastor Charles Madaus of Bible Baptist Temple in Stonewood, WV traveled two hours with a group from his church to help with the service. Pastor Kevan Bartlett also attended with his wife and lead the music portion of the service. BCPM has had the privilege of assisting Both Pastor Madaus and Bartlett reproduce their own churches within the last five years and it is good to see their continued involvement in church planting. South Branch is leasing an older bank building that they were able to fix up and make look very nice and presentable. This has been a tremendous blessing with plenty of room and is located in a good location. Pray now for the remaining two nights as we ask the Lord to continue to work.

Several churches sent work groups to renovate the building. They did a wonderful job and the building looks great.

Final Get Acquainted Meeting

What a wonderful final Get Acquainted Meeting for South Branch Baptist Church. There was over one hundred in attendance with nine families from the community including six first-time guests. Pastor Matt Perrine preached and shared his burden for the new church and for Petersburg and did a great job casting a vision. Several members from Ripley Baptist Church, the reproducing church, traveled over to attend and help with the service and Pastor Rick Perrine read the declarations announcing the autonomy of the new church. The Lord is certainly building his church in Petersburg and pray now for all the follow-up visits and for the opening Sunday services.

First Sunday

Thank you for all who prayed, gave, and participated in the birth of South Branch Baptist Church. The Lord blessed the first Sunday with seventy-eight in attendance including fifty-six from the community. This was great start and a result of several churches working together to see a healthy birth of a new church. Pray now for all the follow-up visits and for South Branch to continue to advance the gospel in Petersburg and throughout the world.
