Gethsemane Baptist Church – Wapakoneta, OH

First Get Acquainted Meeting

What a great first night! There were thirty-eight in attendance with three first-time visiting families from the community during the first Get Acquainted Meeting for Gethsemane Baptist Church. Each of the guests stayed after the service to fellowship with Pastor Jerry Martin, the new pastor, and each seemed interested in the new church. A group from Open Door Baptist Church in Lima, the reproducing church, traveled down to help with the special music, ushering and refreshments. It is always exciting to see the Lord do His work and build His church during these vital Get Acquainted Meetings. Please pray for the second night as we anticipate the hand of God moving upon the service.

Fellowship after the service encourages the guests.

Second Get Acquainted Meeting

The Lord blessed the second Get Acquainted Meeting for Gethsemane Baptist Church. There were fifty-three in attendance with several returning from the community. Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Minster, OH, brought several members to help in the service. Pastor Warnick, the new pastor at Calvary Chapel, was very supportive of the work and gave credible remarks during the service. Jim Bosse of Jehovah-Jireh Ministries, a ministry that offers financial assistance to church plants, also attended and was encouraged. Continue to pray for the remaining three nights and that the Lord moves and works in these special services.

The congregational singing has been wonderful.

The new church made front page news
with a very positive article.

The special music has been Christ-honoring
and has prepared hearts for the messages.

Third Get Acquainted Meeting

Support from other churches has been encouraging this week for the birth of Gethsemane Baptist Church. During the third night three different churches were represented from Ohio and Indiana. Pastor Rick Rust of Liberty Baptist Church in Toledo brought several members to serve along with refreshments to share. BCPM assisted Pastor Rust reproduce a church one year ago and it is good to see his involvement. Pastor Travis Combest from Faith Baptist Church in Berne, Indiana, also traveled over with his two sons to see first hand what God is doing. Pastor Robert Warnick of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Minister, OH, returned for the second night to show his support for the new work and to be an encouragement. There were thirty-three in attendance with one more first time guest from the community. Pray for this new work and that the Lord would bless the remaining two nights.

Fourth Get Acquainted Meeting

Four more families visited during the fourth GAM for Gethsemane Baptist Church. Each guest stayed after the service to fellowship and ask questions with Pastor Martin and his family. Fellowship with refreshments has been very important to make connections and form relationships. Open Door Baptist sent several members to help serve and encourage the guests. The Lord continues to work and to establish his church in the needy community of Wapakoneta. Pray for the final “cord cutting” service tomorrow night and for Pastor Martin as he preaches and shares his heart and vision for the new church.

Final Get Acquainted Meeting

The “cord is cut” and the Lord blessed the fourth and final night for Gethsemane Baptist Church in Wapakoneta, OH. Pastor Turner of Open Door Baptist, the reproducing church, read declarations proclaiming the existence of the new church and appointing Pastor Martin as the new pastor. There were fifty-two in attendance with several returning guests and one first-time visitor. Pastor Martin preached and shared his heart for the new church which he summed up as loving the God, loving God’s Word, and loving God’s church. Pastor Jim Frost of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, OH. traveled over with some of his members to help serve. BCPM helped reproduce Solid Rock Baptist six years ago and it was good to see this young church involved.  Pray for Gethsemane Baptist as it moves forward and advances the cause of Christ in Wapakoneta, OH.
