08 Jun Dr. Earl Jessup – June 2016
Thank you for your interest and faithfulness to our ministry. We are seeing exciting things happen in the ministry, and the future looks so bright. We praise the Lord for all the wonderful things He has done for us.
We have now filled the position of Project Coordinator. Brother Matt Hill from Ripley Baptist Temple in Ripley, WV, feels led of the Lord to join BCPM as the Project Coordinator. The Cultivator will have a full article on our two new staff members, so please watch for it. It should be out in the next couple of months. We are thrilled he has accepted this position, and he and his family will be a great addition to our team. Thank you so much for praying with us about this. We are certain that the Lord has brought the right family to us, and please begin praying for them as they raise their support.
The church plant in Petersburg, WV, was a huge success. Pastor Matt Perrine reports that not only was the GAM a success, but the Grand Opening Sunday was such a blessing. There were seventy-eight in the service with over sixty from the local area. This is a great start for this new church. Please continue to pray for South Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Perrine.
Our annual meeting and staff retreat are later this month. We are holding our meetings at Camp Joy in Whitewater, WI, the week of June 20 during a family camp. Pastor Doug Jackson will be the main speaker for the week, and he has consented to speak to our staff as well while we are there. Our kids can take in the activities, and we can enjoy some of the preaching. Please pray with us that all goes well and that we can get everything accomplished for the ministry while there.
I began radiation last week and have daily treatments during the week until the first week of July. Thankfully, my radiologist has given me a week off the radiation to attend the meetings. They are attempting to reduce the tumor around the bronchial. Also, I started treatment of an immunotherapy drug called Opdivio a few weeks ago. This is given every two weeks, and I have to get permission to move my treatment at least one day in order to attend the entire staff retreat. I will find out next Thursday if I can do that. If not, I will have to return home on Wednesday. Please pray all this works out for us. I do want to spend as much time with our staff as I can. Also please pray the treatments I am presently taking will have an effect on the tumors in the lungs. The PET scan showed no cancerous activity anywhere else in my body. We praise the Lord for this.Thank you for praying for us.
Thank you so much for your investment in our ministry. Last year our entire budget was $308,000 and if the 140 churches still reaching their communities gave only $30,000 each to missions last year, then for every dollar invested in BCPM, six dollars was reinvested in missions from those churches. We are doing our best to get the mission dollars given to go back into missions. Thank you for helping us do that through prayer and financial investment in BCPM.
Co-Laborers Together in the Great Commission,
Earl D. Jessup
