Dr. Loren Steven – May 2012
May 10, 2012
Dear Pastor and Church Family,
May has gotten off to a wonderful start. The grass has been mowed several times; the lilacs and tulips are done blooming. What a great time God has given us to enjoy His marvelous creation. Here in Minnesota, we have had a good amount of rain to break the near drought conditions we had faced through last year and the last winter. We have had nearly five inches of rain in the last week alone. We have had a little hail with some minimal damage. One storm in the area gave us golfball-sized hail for three to five minutes. It is amazing how much damage can be inflicted in a short time.
How much more devastating is the damage attitudes, actions or works can inflict in a local church if the Spirit of God is not allowed to control. One of the blessings as field representative of BCPM is to visit with pastors of the churches we have had the joy of working with over the years and hear how God has blessed. Occasionally, on the flip side, there is a report of how Satan has poked his ugly head into a work and damaged the testimony of Christ.
Having been home most of the month of April allowed me to teach the adult class of our home church, New Hope Baptist Church. We have now completed a study of the book of II Peter.
We would ask you to pray for New Hope Baptist as we face some property issues. The county wants to close off the access to our property for a four lane highway. They would also take forty-four feet of our property. Access to our church would only be able to be made by winding several blocks through a residential area with no way for signage.
By the time you receive this letter, another church will have been birthed. This church will be in Vernon, B.C. We praise the Lord that Dr. Jessup will be able to travel to this church plant and be preaching several of the Get-Acquainted Meetings. We are very thankful for the way that God has seen fit to touch him physically and enable him to once again be preaching and helping in guiding churches that have a Bible conviction of planting new churches.
The church planted in Cranberry, PA, went extremely well, and Pastor Snode is excited as they begin to impact the community for our Lord.
Bev and I are grateful for healthy bodies and alert minds to use for our Lord. We know it is possible in good part because of your many prayers and intercessions on our behalf. Please continue to hold us up before the Lord. Thank you for praying for our daughter Rita as she had orthoscopic surgery on her knee to remove a large piece of bone that had chipped off in an accident. She has healed quickly and without pain.
Thank you again for your faithful support and prayers. It is only because of you that we can labor on, on your behalf.
Because He lives, we serve,
Loren & Bev Steven
